Minnesota

Last week I spent a long weekend with my extended family in northern Minnesota. It was such fun. I always love seeing my family, but this weekend was especially good. We were at a lovely lodge on Gull Lake. The weather was perfect. The clouds were in and out all day, which I think makes the sky more picturesque. One evening we took a boat out on the lake. We almost didn't make it on - there was some mis-communication and they thought we were only 13, not 15. It all worked out, though, and we spent a couple of hours on the lake just before sunset. One morning some of us went fishing. I was in a boat with Elena and Aunt Betsy. We rocked it!! Walleye Dan (that is his name, and he refers to himself this way) took us on his boat while two other guides took others out separately. We pulled in nine fish total (I caught three)! I seem to fish pretty often for a New Yorker - at least twice a year - and this time I finally just grabbed the fish for a photo without hesitation. I am clearly VERY proud of myself. Behind me is Walleye Dan and Betsy. Dan posed this way every time we pulled in a fish. Expect for when I caught a Pike. You have to put your fingers in their gills to avoid their teeth. I'm not ready for that yet.

It was a lovely week in Minnesota. I got to spend time with so many family members up north and in Minneapolis. In two weeks I am off on my next adventure: Africa!
